Suggested stops
- 01
Yau Ma Tei Tin Hau Temple →
Tin Hau was originally a sea goddess; nowadays most prayers are for safe travels and peace in the home. Temple Street takes its name from this temple, and the whole street beside it is full of fortune-telling and physiognomy stalls.
Temple Street, Yau Ma Tei, Kowloon
- 02
The ritual implements stretch of Shanghai Street →
Incense, candles, paper offerings, shrines and Buddhist implements are concentrated along this stretch. If you want consecration or to choose an auspicious day to install a shrine, the shops usually also know familiar masters.
Shanghai Street, Yau Ma Tei, Kowloon
- 03
Temple Street fortune-telling stalls →
Stalls only open after nightfall. Ask the price clearly before sitting down; asking about one matter and asking about a whole year are two different prices.
Temple Street, Yau Ma Tei, Kowloon (beside Tin Hau Temple)
